How you trust it
Every cell is traceable, every number cited, every change reviewable with clear version history, so nothing goes into your model or deck unchecked.
Track and undo every edit
Every edit is logged, so you can see what changed and roll back anything.
Platform
Excel
In the Platform
The Changes tab in the Platform lists every file in a project that has been added (A), modified (M) or deleted (D).
Expand the timeline to see the history of changes across the project, by day, week, or month.
Hover a file to open a previous version or open the diff viewer to compare it with the previous version. The version picker in the top right corner shows who made each change and when.
In Excel
Click the Changes pill at the bottom of the agent chat to see a list of the changes made.
Undo or approve each change individually, or all of them in a batch.
Trace every number to its source
Follow how cells link, back to the PDF page or model cell each number came from.
Citations
References in chat
Every number the agent quotes back to you is a reference to the cell it came from.

Word
Click any green pill in the agent’s reply to jump to exactly where in the spreadsheet that number traces to.
PDF citations
Trace how cells link, and follow every number back to the PDF page or model cell it came from.
Platform
Excel

Word
Attach the PDF and ask for the data you need, with each number linked back to the page it came from.
Tracelight writes the table into your spreadsheet and cites every cell. Hover a cited cell to see the document, page, and timestamp.
Click through to the source to see exactly where the number came from, highlighted on the page.
PPT citations
Every figure in a deck, traced back to its cell in the model.
Platform
PowerPoint
Every number Tracelight places in a deck is cited back to the underlying Excel model. In the PowerPoint add-in, open the Source panel to see the citations on the slide you are on.
Citations are grouped by slide, each showing the workbook, sheet, and cell behind the figure, and whether it is still up to date.
Click “View source” to open the cell in the model, ready to trace further.
In the Platform, the same citations sit on the deck itself. Hover a cited figure to see its sources.
Open the deck and the model side by side to check the numbers against their source.
Apps citations
Every figure in a Tracelight app, traced back to its cell in the spreadsheet.
Platform
Figures underlined in an app are live citations. Click one to open the source spreadsheet with that exact cell selected, and its formula shown in the bar.
Trace
See how cells and formulas link, with sourced explanations.
Platform
Excel
Click a cell with an underlying formula, then open Trace. In Excel it sits just below the agent chat box; in the Platform it sits above the spreadsheet in the file viewer.
In Excel, below the agent chat box. In the Platform, above the spreadsheet. Toggle between Range (the cells referenced) and Values. Drill down into precedents using the keyboard shortcuts, and view an AI-generated explanation of the formula at the bottom.
Click “Graph” to generate a Mermaid diagram that explains how the calculation flows.
Compare any two versions
See exactly what changed between versions of spreadsheets or text files, in a dedicated visual diff viewer.
Platform
Spreadsheets
Open Compare in the sidebar, or jump there from the add-in via the “Compare” tool on the Review tab. Drop in two versions of the same model to view the differences.
You see every change made in the spreadsheet, alongside an AI summary of its impact on your model. Toggle Computed Changes to see how input changes flow through to downstream variables.
Text changes
Text files show changes inline: additions highlighted in green, deletions struck through in red.
Catch errors with Review

Click the grid icon on a referenced file to choose which sheets to review (a single spreadsheet, the workbook, or the entire project) then click “Run review”.
Click a run to examine each error by severity, with a summary of each. Click a highlighted cell to jump to it, or click “Fix all” to correct the errors.
